Welcome to the Web Pages of SEFE - Finns in Egypt
SEFE Suomalaiset Egyptissä – Finns in Egypt is an association that is open to all Finnish residents and expatriates living in Egypt as well as all other individuals interested in our activities regardless of their nationality. Finns in Egypt -association is continuing in the footsteps of Finnish women in Cairo. SNK (Suomalaiset Naiset Kairossa - Finnish Women in Cairo) was established in the 90's. In the
autumn 2005 the association decided to expand its target group to Finnish people living in Egypt. The name of the
association was changed officially in the autumn 2006 from SNK to SEFE - Suomalaiset Egyptissä - Finns in
Egypt.
We are a non-profit association and are religiously and politically independent. Every other year an Executive Committee is elected to plan and manage the programs and activities. These volunteers are nominated by the members at the annual general meeting. Our association is entirely run by volunteers. The association informs about its activities in Finnish and English. The events the association arranges are either in Finnish or both in Finnish and English, depending on the event and its attendants.
Our aim is to offer Finns and Finnish-Egyptian families possibilities to spend time together in our events. We also want to promote fellowship between different nationalities, especially between Finns and Egyptians. We arrange cultural events, trips, lectures and get-togethers with different themes. The association works together with Egyptian charity organizations.
The associaton wishes to help Finns moving to Cairo and Egypt and adapt to its culture. We have contact persons all over Egypt – Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada and Luxor – who will give help and advice to Finns moving and living in that area. Association’s Executive Committee members will also function as contact persons. If you need any of these contact details please ask them via e-mail.
